What Dawn is

Dawn is a community app that helps verified women in Delhi NCR share their daily commute. Drivers offer spare seats on journeys they are already making; riders share the cost. Dawn is not a taxi, transport or commercial carriage service, and does not employ drivers or operate vehicles. Dawn is provided by Raghav Jhamb, an individual based in Delhi NCR ("Dawn", "we").

Who can use Dawn

Dawn is for women aged 18 or over. Every member completes identity verification (a government ID check that confirms gender), a live selfie, email confirmation and mobile number confirmation before she can offer or request a seat. You agree to give accurate information and not to share your account or let anyone else use it.

We may suspend or close an account that fails verification, misrepresents identity, or puts other members at risk.

Cost sharing, not fares

Amounts shown per seat are a contribution towards fuel and running costs on a journey the driver is making anyway. They are capped in the app and are not a commercial fare. Payment, if any, is settled directly between members; Dawn does not collect or hold money. Drivers are responsible for complying with the law that applies to private vehicle use and cost sharing in their state.

Drivers

If you offer seats you confirm that you hold a valid driving licence, that the vehicle is registered and insured for private use, and that you will drive safely and lawfully. You decide whom to accept. You can cancel a ride; please do it early so riders can make other plans.

Riders

Be at the agreed pickup point on time, confirm the car and plate shown in the app before getting in, and treat the driver and other riders with respect. Repeated no-shows or unsafe behaviour can lead to removal.

Safety

Dawn gives you tools: a share-my-ride sheet, a hold-for-help button that calls emergency services, and a way to flag a member. Use them. Dawn cannot guarantee anyone’s conduct and is not a party to the journey. In an emergency, call 112.

Your conduct

No harassment, discrimination, solicitation, recording of other members without consent, or use of Dawn for anything other than sharing commutes. Do not try to access data that is not yours or interfere with the service.

Liability

Dawn is provided "as is" for a community pilot. To the extent permitted by law, Dawn is not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from journeys arranged through the app, from the conduct of members, or from interruptions to the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile. Deletion removes your profile, commute, verification record, rides and notes; see the Privacy Notice for what is kept and why.

Grievances

Grievance officer: Raghav Jhamb, hello@dawncarpool.in. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days, as the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 require.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; material changes are shown in the app before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction.
